Prof. Junran Chen received his B.Eng. degree from Southeast University, China, in 2020. He then joined McMaster University in Canada, where he earned a direct-entry Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2025, with his research conducted at the McMaster Automotive Resource Centre (MARC).
In 2025, he joined the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research interests include battery modeling, state estimation, aging mechanisms, battery management systems, and the application of artificial intelligence in energy storage and electrified transportation.
